Charging with VoltKenya is simple:

  3. Pay with M-Pesa: Enter your phone number and desired amount
  4. Approve Payment: Complete the M-Pesa prompt on your phone
  5. Start Charging: Connect your vehicle and charging begins automatically

No! VoltKenya is designed for simplicity. You don't need to create an account or download an app. Simply visit our website, find a station, and pay with M-Pesa. Your phone number is all you need.

⚡ Charging Details

VoltKenya offers DC fast charging:

  • 60kW Chargers: 30-45 minutes for 80% charge
  • 80kW Chargers: 20-35 minutes for 80% charge

Actual charging time depends on your vehicle's battery capacity and current charge level.

Our stations support the most common EV charging standards:

  • CCS (Combined Charging System): Most European and American EVs
  • CHAdeMO: Nissan Leaf and other Japanese vehicles
  • Type 2 (AC): Slower AC charging option

Check your vehicle's manual to confirm which connector you need.

Standard Rate: KSh 50 per kWh

For example:

  • 10 kWh (small car, ~50km range) = KSh 500
  • 20 kWh (medium car, ~100km range) = KSh 1,000
  • 40 kWh (full charge for most EVs) = KSh 2,000

Minimum payment: KSh 50 | Maximum: KSh 10,000

💰 Payments & M-Pesa

We currently accept M-Pesa only. This ensures fast, secure, and convenient payments directly from your phone.

Support for credit/debit cards is coming soon!

If your payment fails:

  • Check your M-Pesa balance
  • Ensure you entered the correct phone number
  • Verify your phone number is registered for M-Pesa
  • Try again after a few minutes

Funds are never deducted unless the payment is successful. If you were charged but charging didn't start, contact our support team immediately.

Yes! You'll receive an M-Pesa confirmation SMS immediately after payment. For detailed receipts including kWh consumed and session duration, contact support with your M-Pesa transaction code.

If you encounter an offline or malfunctioning station:

  • Check our website for real-time status updates
  • Report the issue via our contact form
  • Find an alternative station on our map

We monitor all stations 24/7 and dispatch technicians for quick repairs.

If you're unable to stop charging:

  1. Unplug the charging cable from your vehicle
  2. Contact our emergency support line immediately
  3. Note your transaction reference number

You'll only be charged for the actual energy consumed, and our system automatically stops charging when payment runs out.
